The NC HealthConnex partnered with the NC Division of Public Health in 2017 to develop the NC Diabetes Specialized Disease Registry. The registry allows for tracking Diabetes prevalence across the state and includes value-added indicators such as recent poor lab results. In early 2020, NC HealthConnex began developing a modernized analytics environment to support the Diabetes Disease Registry and additional use cases.
As the COVID-19 pandemic began impacting North Carolinians, NC HealthConnex quickly utilized the modernized environment and lessons learned from the Diabetes Disease Registry to build a tool surfacing publicly available data sources and clinical data from the HIE related to patients with COVID-19 diagnoses and COVID-like illnesses. This presentation will provide lessons learned from the development of the Diabetes Registry and COVID-19 dashboard, as well as describe the short and long-term use cases powered by NC HealthConnex’s modernized analytics environment. In addition, a short demonstration of both solutions will be provided.
